Process Cartography Studies
A process cartography study records how work actually moves through your business. We interview the
people performing each task, observe the task in progress and trace every handover, approval, queue
and exception. The resulting maps use a single line language, so that a purchase route and a service
route can be compared on equal terms. The study surfaces the informal steps that exist outside the
written procedure, which are frequently the steps that create both risk and efficiency.
The output is a bound set of process plates, each dated and numbered, with decision points marked and
the systems touched at each step noted in the margin. Clients use these maps to train new staff,
redesign approval chains and identify which manual steps could reasonably be removed. Because the
plates are drawn to a house legend, a process map from this year still aligns with a data flow chart
from last year.

Network Topology Surveys
A network topology survey is the ground plan of your technology estate. We catalogue circuits and
providers, switches and firmware versions, wireless coverage and its weak points, on-premise servers
and their age, and the cloud regions your business depends upon. The drawing marks the boundary
between public and private space and identifies every point at which traffic leaves your control.
The plate becomes the reference you consult before any change, because it shows which sites depend on
which circuits, which services share a single point of failure, and which links are running close to
capacity. We date and version each survey, so the topology plate also serves as a baseline when a
provider changes terms, a lease expires or an acquisition brings a second estate alongside the first.

Integration Roadmapping
Integration roadmapping decides the order in which systems should be connected. Rather than attempting
every connection at once, we assess each proposed link for difficulty, cost and business value, then
sequence the work into phases that keep your operation live throughout. Every phase carries an entry
condition, an exit condition and an explicit rollback point.
The roadmap is drawn as a route with each phase marked, so that stakeholders can see not only what
will be connected but why the sequence is what it is. We revise the roadmap as each phase completes,
which means the document stays accurate rather than becoming a historical curiosity. Platforms that
were deferred on sound reasoning two quarters ago can be reconsidered as the estate evolves.

Data Flow Charting
A data flow chart follows information rather than equipment. For each significant category of record
we document where it is created, which system holds the master copy, where copies are made, how each
copy is transformed and where it is finally archived or destroyed. Personal and operational data are
distinguished throughout, and every crossing of an organisational boundary is marked.
This chart is what allows a privacy review, a retention policy or a backup strategy to be written
from evidence rather than recollection. Instead of guessing which records travel to which processor,
a client can point to a plate and answer precisely. When an incident occurs, the same chart shortens
the response considerably, because the affected routes are already drawn and named.

System Inventory Mapping
System inventory mapping produces the register behind every other drawing. We list each application,
service, licence, device and subscription in use, and against each line we record an owner, an annual
cost, a criticality rating and a renewal date. Duplicate services and orphaned licences are flagged
explicitly, since they are the least visible items in a technology budget.
Once complete, the inventory becomes a working management instrument. Renewals can be grouped and
negotiated, inactive licences retired and single points of failure surfaced before they cause an
outage. We maintain the register as a structured document, so it can be sorted, filtered and handed
to an accountant, an auditor or an incoming technologist without translation or rework.

Migration Route Planning
Migration route planning applies the other five surveys to a single objective: moving your estate from
its present state to a target state without losing data, money or goodwill. We draw the departure
point from the existing surveys, draw the destination, and lay out the stages between them so that
your business is never balanced on a half-finished move.
Each stage carries a pre-flight check, a migration window, a verification step and an explicit
rollback route. We plan communication as carefully as technology, because staff affected by a change
deserve clear notice of what is happening and when. The final deliverable is a sequence your own team
can execute confidently, with the reasoning for each ordering decision recorded alongside it.
